SUMMARY:Chemo Angels: Support Cancer Patients During Chemo Treatment
DESCRIPTION:You can become a Chemo Angel and write a card to support Cancer patients undergoing Chemotherapy!  Volunteer with this organization by writing cards\, letters or notes of support to Cancer Patients who are under going Chemo Treatment. \nThere are multiple ways that you volunteer with this organization. \nAs A Traditional Chemo Angel: \n\n\nAs a Traditional Chemo Angel you will be assigned to a patient who you will encourage through small gifts\, cards\, letters\, uplifting notes for the duration of their treatment. A recent poll shows 75% of our Traditional Chemo Angels spend $50 or less a month on their patient.   \n\n\nAs a Card Angel: \n\nAs a Card Angel\, you will  send your assigned patient at least one card\, letter\, or note a week\, and perhaps a small gift every now and then\, but gifts are not required for Card Angels. Being a Card Angel is a great option for volunteers with limited budgets\n\nOr as a Prayer Angel: \n\nOur team of Prayer Angels is always on call for the prayer needs of both our recipients and our volunteers.\n\nTo sign up for this volunteer opportunity or for more information please click here!

SUMMARY:Take Back the Night
DESCRIPTION: Take Back The Night represents the earliest worldwide stand against sexual violence\, especially violence against women.  TBTN Events began in the 1960’s in Belgium and England with protests about women not being safe walking down the street alone.  In 1973 in the United States\, women at the University of Southern Florida dressed in black sheets holding broomsticks and marched through campus demanding a women’s center.  In 1975\, a crowd in Philadelphia held a Take Back The Night Event to protest the murder of a microbiologist walking near her home after work.  In the 70’s San Francisco had a number of rallies in protest “snuff” pornography and violence against women.  These early events have grown into hundreds of events on college campuses and in communities of all sizes and locations.  The unifying theme is the protest of sexual violence and support for victims. \n  \nClick Here to Volunteer\n  \n

SUMMARY:Read Ahead
DESCRIPTION:A cohort of students will dedicate an hour of their lunch time to mentor and advise a student at PS 67\, only 10 minutes away from campus. The students at PS 67 are middle school aged and excited to have a college-aged mentor they can be with weekly for an hour. 77% of children in NYC’s chronically under-resourced public schools come from low-income communities. Our mentors’ critical one on one attention gives children the confidence\, motivation\, and skills to succeed.  \nClick Here to Volunteer\n  \n
