SUMMARY:Back to School Backpack Drive for the NYC Homeless Coalition
DESCRIPTION:We partner with the HEOP and Nursing Department among others to gather backpacks and supplies to provide to students at the NYC Coalition for the Homeless. Our goal is to fill each backpack with as many necessities as possible for the school year such as notebooks\, pens\, pencils\, rulers\, etc. Providing the students with these fully equipped backpacks will allow them to explore their place in education and not feel as though they do not belong.  This also gives a chance for our members to humble themeselves to the education they are receiving\, encouraging them to engage in giving acts like these often. \nThis drive has been successful for five years now. At the end of the drive each year we visit the Homeless Coalition to show support and share educational stories with one another. They’ve repeatedly said they are happy to have us and we are one of the most helpful Universities they’ve ever had. \nClick Here to Volunteer

SUMMARY:CAMP DREAMCATCHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer counselors are needed for the free therapeutic and educational camp program for youth impacted BY HIV/AIDS .  Volunteers will be needed as follows:  • Full-Time Counselor:  Requirements include attending HIV/AIDS & Diversity Training in Kennett Square in June and on August 16th & 17th at Camp Saginaw.  Full-time counselors live in cabins with the campers and attend all programs.\n• Part-Time Counselor:  You tell us when you are available!  It can be a couple of days\, every evening\, one day\, etc.\n• Professional Volunteer:  You can volunteer to help with our programming for the week.\no Massage Therapists\no Psychotherapists\no Yoga Instructors\no Group session facilitators (budget workshops\, college application process)\no Entertainers (Native American dancers/drummers\, musicians\, magicians\, etc.)\n• General Volunteers:  Registration on Sunday\, August 17th from 11am-4pm\, or assist with programming during the week. (basketball\, lacrosse\, arts/crafts\, fishing\, canoeing\, etc).\nThe program engages 5 – 17-year-old young people who are infected or have family members infected by HIV/AIDS\, or who have lost a family member to the disease.  The program involves 45 educational and 130 recreational programs during the camp week.  Music therapy\, yoga\, massage\, mindfulness meditation\, acupuncture\, psychotherapy\, lacrosse\, basketball\, fishing\, canoeing\, go-cart racing\, laser tag\, miniature golfing\, concerts\, art/crafts\, are among the programs offered.  Teen and “leaders in training” programs offer sessions on college preparation\, budgeting\, HIV/AIDS\, addiction\, abuse\, bully prevention\, body changes\, etc.

DESCRIPTION:This is a philanthropic opportunity for students to join/create a team to raise funds for the Ryan Lee Memorial Scholarship. \nVolunteers can donate or join a team or both. Teams can play in either the competitive bracket or the recreational bracket. It is $25 per team and all proceeds go to the Ryan T. Lee Foundation.  \nIn order to sign up:\n1. Students\, Faculty\, Administrators and Staff can complete team registration form (Up to 4 team members). \n2. Each member of the team must fill out the health history form and the participant waiver. \n3. Bring the forms and the payment to David Sison in the WRAC on the 3rd Floor. \nAll forms can be obtained from David. Applications are due by April 12\, 2016.

Cheered on by the Relay participants and the sound of upbeat music\, the Survivors Lap lets all cancer survivors at the event celebrate their victory over cancer. \n  \nCaregivers Lap: Coming soon!\nDuring the Caregivers Lap\, anyone who ever cared for someone with cancer walks a special lap so they can be honored. Caregivers can walk this lap with the person they helped if they are also present. \n  \nLuminaria Ceremony: Coming soon!\nAt the candlelight Luminaria Ceremony we remember loved ones lost to cancer\, support people who currently have cancer\, and honor people who fought cancer in the past. It’s a powerful part of the event because it provides an opportunity for people to work through grief and find hope.\nClosing Ceremony: Coming soon! \n  \nThe Closing Ceremony celebrates what we all just accomplished together.
