November 2016
Volunteers will assemble care packages filled with different food products that will be distributed to those in need.
Find out moreWe want to set up a table outside the Health science lobby, or possibly outside of LIU, where we could have a bunch of cakes or cookies that some were made of sugar free ingredients and others were made of regular sugar ingredients. Students will have to guess what is the sugar free item and what is the regular item; to see the difference in the two. We would sell each bundle of one sugar free dessert along with a regular dessert for a dollar, and the money made from this event will go to a Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. We will also hand out pamphlets with recipes for healthy, yet tasty desserts and information about living with diabetes.
Find out moreThis year was the first time this event was held and was quite a success. We had a really good turnout of both students and faculty and provided everyone with t-shirts, free blood-pressure monitoring by pharmacy students, bottles with a LIU Brooklyn 5k Rally for Health signature, towels, and raffles. Raffles included headphones, fitbits, and portable chargers. Raffle tickets were bought by participants and added to the proceeds for the March of Dimes.
Find out moreGuests mingle through a variety of cultural sequences. In the previous years many guests learned how to dance bachata and salsa while enjoying latin cuisine among others in a decorated setting.
