New York Cares
New York Cares was founded by a group of friends who wanted to take action against serious social issues that faced our city in the late 1980s. Finding few options to help, they created their own organization to address the problems from the ground up. New York Cares is now the city’s largest volunteer management organization, running volunteer programs for 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools.
LIU Post Sustainability/LIUCOMMPOST
LIUCOMMPOST’s mission is to provide a platform for the LIU Post community to learn about and understand their impact on the environment and to live more sustainable local-to-global lives. Under the coordination of the LIU Post Sustainability Committee, several initiatives have been started which could benefit from student volunteers. These initiatives include the LIU Post Recycling Program and the Green Office Program.
Girls Inc. of New York City
Since 1999, Girls Incorporated of New York City has honored girls who are transitioning from high school to college through our signature annual College Shower. At the event we celebrate the achievements of our graduates and support them as they continue to prove that they are strong, smart, and bold! Our goal is show girls that their educational accomplishments are truly valued and that we are proud of them!
