Health Fair

This event already occurred on August 6th; members of APhA attended a health fair hosted by Advocate Community Providers in the Bronx at a community center where LIU joined other healthcare organizations and had our own booth to provide blood pressure screenings, BILINGUAL (english/spanish) medication counseling with the assistance of a translator, and handed out informational self-care materials to over 100 patients! We also had the opportunity to meet congressman Gustavo Rivera and promoted Long Island University, the LIU school of pharmacy, along with our organization.

Heartburn Awareness Challenge

Patients will be screened for heartburn symptoms. A questionare & information sheet will be given out to patients that will help determine if the patient is suffering from heartburn, and should be referred to a physician.

Breast Cancer Walk

Members of the Public Administration Society (PAS) will raise funds for cancer and also participate in the walk at Prospect Park.

Reading food, medication and vitamin labels

A presentation will be given to improve the health literacy of patients. Students will be educated on reading nutrition, OTC drug labels, and key terms on vitamin labels.

Coptic Students Outreach

meet youth from churches and teach them the word of GOD by attending a mass and have a word with the priest of the church, then we go have dinner and talk more about the word of GOD

Juvenile Diabetes Walk #2

The members of APhA will be attending this walk and we intend to have a booth at the event where we will conduct free blood pressure screenings and hand out diabetic infomation. We also want to have wristbands where we can hand out to students on campus with information about diabetic awareness.

International Day of Persons With Disabilities

Students will set aside their Friday afternoon to go visit a classroom with children with disabilities and spend time with them. We will bring coloring books and other fun games to play with them.

Relay for Life Kick off and Registration Day
